Price My Space Blog Party!

Welcome to my living room!

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS POST HAS BEEN PEEKABOO'D

This used to be my dining room, but we had to reconfigure our living areas, so this is a much smaller space than we used to have. Click on the individual photos for a closer view.

Living Room View

Forgot to number the large picture on left, it was $10 at HES, I just need to finish painting the frame white.
TV cabinet is about 12 years old, I painted it white about 5 years ago. Originally $129.
Basket & Quilt - basket was $7 and it's filled with kids books, quilt from MIL.
Curtains in the windows are from Ikea, about $30 for all.

Desk View in Living Room

Teapot on desk was $7.99 but I had to move it and the glass jars so the baby wouldn't break them. This is also a better shot of our fake paneling.

Main View A

1. Coral plates - plastic plates from Homegoods 1.99 each
2. Sectional couch - recently purchased from Ikea for $899, but they gave us a gift card for $150, so I didn't feel so bad about spending the money. With gift card I purchased the slipcover you see here. My other one is lovely and white.
3. Ottoman is old...about 11 years...$0, rug from Homegoods $29, ruffle from baby crib $0, white blanket from the as-is section at Ikea for $10, tray was $7.99 from Target about 5 yrs. ago, various books, shell was free, and the "frog" was $4.95 from a thrift store.
4. Lamp - a converted oil lamp w/ shade I got at Hughes Estate Sales (HES) for $20 (adore it!)
5. White folding chair from Homegoods for $17 (reg. $79! who pays that?)
6. Great cottage sketch in gold frame - HES $18
7. Pillows - orange was free, aqua & brown were $8 for two each at Homegoods.
8. Aqua beach sign was $12.99 from Homegoods, shelf it's sitting on is from Ikea for $6. The orange fish tile above it was a gift.
9. Not sure what these are called, pelmets? but we recycled from someone else's house, so free.
10. Vanity desk from my mom, she paid $75, I just painted it aqua for $4.
11. This is to point out the wall paneling, it's fake! We made it ourselves, about $40 for entire room. (Saw how to do it on Changing Rooms).
12. Flooring throughout is from Ikea for $1.29 a squarefoot.

Table View B
1. Got this table as a birthday present used gift card at Homegoods.
2. Flowers on sale at Joann Fabrics - $8
3. Little silver box - from HES $6
4. Three books about shells, herbs, and insects $6 at Marshalls.
And that's an Anthropology bowl on the books, a gift of measuring cups, this is the cup size.

Not showing: silk flower arrangement on top of tv cabinet $30 (from HES).
Light fixture $6 from Osh.
I just bought a little gold frame with a gold bee inside for $3.95 (yesterday), and I am hanging up another shelf under the giant picture, so that'll be another $6 (already purchased from Ikea).

Total for this space, which is 12 ft. by 12 ft is: $1343.00

So tell me what you think of my iddy biddy living room...I tried my best!
One day soon we'll have a normal living room in a much bigger house.
One day...Thanks for visiting, can't wait to see your spaces!

  5. I love the beach theme, and you've done a wonderful job making a cozy living room. I think the small space gives it a more beach cottage feel, actually. I love that you repainted pieces to work with the color scheme. Thanks for sharing!

  10. I just got back from San Diego & Laguna... then Palm Springs.
Love the way dogs are so accepted in the California area. At Laguna Beach there were so many doggies walking & with their owners having fun!

  11. Mrs. Limestone, sorry I forgot to say where the white table was from, I added it now. It was from Homegoods for $59 (but I used my gift card).

Also, the white paint color is called Calla Lily from Behr and it's semi-gloss.
I made up the pale aqua color myself.

  17. I was worried about the Ikea flooring when we first got it, but we were and are on such a tight budget that we did it anyway. It has been really good, even better than real wood I think. I don't worry about spills at all. And I have moved a lot of furniture around on it and scuffed it and then I mop it off. Sometimes I have to get on my knees and scrub, but it still comes off. There are a few chips, but that was from when we installed it. It looks as good now as it did when we installed in four + years ago!

  21. Agreed--if you could share how you did the paneling (or what episode of Changing Rooms it was on) I would love to find out. I think your room is FABULOUS!! What you did with the space has inspired me to de-clutter and redecorate!
