June - Fresh Fruit and Veggie Month!

What is fresh for the month of June?
FRUITS AND VEGETABLES: Apples, apricots, asparagus, bananas, Bermuda onions, blackberries, blueberries, cabbage, cantaloupe, celery, cherries, corn, cucumbers, green or wax beans, green onions, lemons, limes, lettuce, nectarines, okra, peas, pineapples, plums, raspberries, radishes, rhubarb, strawberries, squash, tomatoes, watercress, watermelon.

I'm going to the Farmer's Market this weekend to pick up some fresh and cheaper produce. Supermarkets are a rip off right now. Plus I want to support local farmers. I'll try to find organic too. What are you finding at your local Farmer's Market?

You should see our sad veggie patch. I guess it will get better as the month goes along. I've got squash plants doing well, tomatoes, bush beans, and trying to get basil to grow! I'll take some shots and show you. Trees in my garden: fig, pomegranate, nectarine, apricot, and Meyer lemon. There are also some small orange trees which aren't doing very well.

NOTE: With some produce now available all during the year, many people have forgotten when fruits and vegetables are really fresh. Buying in season means that these items are often cheaper, fresher and that money may be going to local farmers.
